I recently had one of those “light-bulb moments”.  You know, when you are just sitting and floating off into space and suddenly, WHAM!  (not the band) You’re like, “Yes, I get it!”  My life as a wedding photographer is not all about me, it’s about you!  It’s about the bride and the groom and their families and friends!  You might be thinking, well duh, of course it is!  And of course I’ve always realized this, but I often find myself getting so wrapped up in the competitiveness of being a wedding photographer and worrying about how many magazines or blogs have published my work and comparing my work to others, that I can get a little lost and forget about why I am doing what I’m doing.

So, I had this moment when a newly wed bride and groom came over to view their slideshow after their wedding.  The bride was so touched by the photos that she started to cry.  That was my moment.  I understood that it doesn’t matter how many publications I’m in or how many other photographers might be more popular then me.  What matters is that, I am there to document some of the most important moments in your life that you are going to cherish and share with others for the rest of your life and then pass on to new family members to show them all of those special moments.

This is what I am so, so very grateful for.  I want to thank all of the bride’s and groom’s and families that I have photographed over the years, because without you, my life as a photographer would not be possible.  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

And here’s a little peek at a family session I’m working on.
