Featured Vendor / Kira of Onsite Muse Hair and Make-Up

When Kira was in third grade and her teacher was asking everyone what they wanted to be when they grew up, Kira knew what her answer was,  she wanted to be a hairdresser and a make-up artist.  She is now living out her childhood dreams, but she always dreamed about being able to do all the popular hair styles one day!  How many of us can say that?  Kira was fortunate enough to get to grow up in Hawaii hanging out on the beach, hula dancing and surfing almost everyday.   So what is she doing here in Minnesota you might wonder?  Well, it has to do with the love of her life!  Love can make you do funny things sometimes, like leave Hawaii to live in Minnesota!  I think it’s pretty sweet actually.

Now, she is a co-owner of Onsite Muse, along with two other women and they were recently awarded “Best Hair & Make-Up” by The Knot.  Kira and her crew pamper their brides and bridesmaids or whom ever they are doing make-up for.  She says that having your make-up done by a professional on your wedding day is really helpful, not only because your make-up will look really good, but, she says that it forces the bride to actually sit down and relax for a while.  “Let yourself be pampered!”  Another important note about Onsite Muse is that, you don’t have to go out of your way on your wedding day to a salon, they will come to you!  They keep their business small and all of their employees are licensed or certified at what they do.  They all love what they do and they want you to love it too.  Kira said they don’t do “Minnesota Nice”, if you don’t like something, let them know, they won’t take it personally.  And bring in photos of what you like!

What if you want to have your make-up professionally done, but you think that you can’t afford it?  Ask for it as a gift!  There’s no shame and I’m positive that most bridesmaids would be more then willing to go in together on something like that!

A few fun facts about Kira are:

She loves Rockabilly and Hawaiian music and she used to do a lot of swing-dancing.  She’s really interested in history and her favorite non-fiction book is The History of Salt.  She identifies herself as a “Nature Girl”, she is an apprentice to a bee keeper, and she said that her husband just bought her book on identifying rocks.  Sounds pretty awesome to me!
